Liepaja State Technical School

OUR SCHOOL

Professional Education Competence Centre “Liepaja State Technical School” (Liepājas Valsts tehnikums) was established in 1920 and it was the second technical secondary school that was established in Latvia. Through the years the institution has provided professional education.

The school offers various educational programmes such as "Hotel services", "Catering services", "Woodwork manufacturing", "Transportation", "Energetic and Electrical Engineering", "Mechatronics", "Metalworking" and "Construction works". In these educational programmes there are more than 1000 students.

Thanks to the recent significant investment of Regional European Development Fund, the school now has become one of the most modern professional educational institutions in Kurzeme region in Latvia. Since last year the newly renovated buildings and modern equipment offers to the students of Liepaja State Technical School a professional education on a new quality level.

OUR SCHOOL INTO ACTION

Liepaja State Technical School is JA Latvia member school already for several years. Every year many students develop their student companies, sell their production in regional and national Fair Trades and compete in the competitions. The school collaborates also with many professional organisations and associations, reducing the gap between the education system and labor market. Every year the teachers and students also participate in different international projects in Comenius and Erasmus+ programs. With the support of European Social Fund the school also has professional programmes for NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth to include them into the labor market.

“Not everyone will be entrepreneurs, but those who run a student company gain a valuable experience to add to their resume, and in this way they will become better competitors in the labour market" - said Agris Ruperts, director of Liepaja State Technical School.
